Each Root!t Hobby Heat Mat Kit includes:
Hobby Heat Mat - designed to provide a uniform, gentle heat across the whole surface to help speed up germination and growth. They have a single mesh element encased within a waterproof, fray-proof casing.
Available in three different sizes you will receive one of the below depending on which your order:
Small - 10 inches / 25cm wide x 14 inches / 35cm long, 11 watts
Medium - 15 inches / 40cm wide x 23 inches long / 60cm, 30 watts
Large - 15 inches / 40cm wide x 47 inches long / 120cm, 60 watts.
These mats can be used without a thermostat and will raise temperatures by 10-15ºC above the ambient temperature (you will need to turn off the mat if the ambient temperature is high). For automatic, accurate temperature control use together with a thermostat. Ideally stand watertight trays or pots on the heat mat to prevent water from pooling onto the surface of the mat.
Insulation Mat - designed to be placed underneath the Hobby Heat Mat. It will ensure that all the heat produced by the Heat Mat is directed upward into your trays and pots and not lost into work tops. It is ideal when using a Heat Mat in a greenhouse on metal benching where heat could be easily dissipated. These are supplied to match the size of the heat mat.
Please note:
The heat mat should not be placed within seed trays, buried in soil or submerged in water. The surface of the heat may exceed 50ºC so avoid prolonged skin contact when on.
