CatWatch Ultrasonic Cat Deterrent

The only cat deterrent tested and approved by the RSPB!
The only cat deterrent tested and approved by the RSPB, this CatWatch Ultrasonic Cat Deterrent is a great way to protect birds feeding in your garden, keeping your garden free of cats. It’s compact design and colour makes it easy and discreet to position, whilst it protects an area of up to 1345 sq ft. The area protected is in front of the unit, a semi-circle a bit like a torch beam.

It works by emitting a burst of ultrasonic sound which is inaudible to humans, but which will deter cats from the space it is protecting. Other animals, such as birds, dogs, or rabbits, won’t be affected as this unit it set to emit a sound level to deter cats.

Being battery powered means it can be positioned anywhere it’s needed without having to be plugged in. However, if you don’t want to have to replace the battery an optional mains adaptor is available, which will increase the volume of the Catwatch by up to 30%.

Approved by the RSPB – CatWatch, the UK’s leading cat deterrent made in the UK has successfully completed a 2 year scientific trial conducted by the RSPB to determine its deterrent effect on cats in residential gardens. The results have been published in the Applied Animal Behaviour Science Journal after peer review. The research concluded that CatWatch reduces cat intrusions into gardens. The longer the unit is in place, the more effective it is.

Built In Motion Sensor – with a 40ft / 12 metre range in front of the unit the sensor triggers an ultrasonic burst (from 20-24 KHz) when motion is detected. The sound will repeat until the cat leaves the protected area. A red light behind the lens indicates that the sensor has been triggered.

Repellent area – the ultrasonic range is up to 1345 sq ft / 125 sq m. The detection range of the motion sensor is 40 ft / 12 metres. It usually takes between 2 to 4 weeks for the unit to protect your garden, however in extreme cases it can take up to 3 months.

An outdoor device – this weather resistant unit is designed to run trouble free all year round, and in most weather conditions.

Wall Mount or use Ground Spike included – to wall mount use a screw (not included) in a wall or fence to fix the unit to, positioning the screw approx. 8 inches / 20cm above the ground. Or attach the ground spike to the base of the unit and push the stake into the ground so that the lens of the unit is approx. 8 inches / 20cm above the ground.

Battery powered – always use a Duracell 9 volt battery (MN1604) (not included). We would expect one battery to last for approx. 2-3 months and then need to be replaced. If the LED flashes continuously or if the unit does not beep when switched on or hisses when activated then you should replace the battery. Do not use out of date or rechargeable batteries. Use only Duracell alkaline batteries, the use of other batteries can invalidate the warranty.

Size – 6¾inch / 17cm high x 3½inch / 9cm wide x 2¾inch / 6cm deep. The ground spike included is approx. 6½inch / 16.5cm tall.

Made in the UK – from premium materials, ensuring a high-quality device. Sold worldwide since 1993 this item is backed by a 2 year manufacturers warranty.

Please note – cat reactions will vary considerably when exposed to the alarm. It can vary from immediate flight to the cat walking towards the unit and settling down in front of it! The first is a timid cat, the second a very territorial cat trying to assert its authority. In the end however the result is the same, both cats will avoid or quickly pass through the area you are protecting. Some white cats, older cats and exotic breeds are hard of hearing in the upper hearing range and may not be affected. Deaf cats will not be affected.
