Simply plant your seed potatoes and approx. 10 weeks later you can begin to harvest potatoes ready to eat. This can be repeated many times, right up until the arrival of the first frost.

Growing Instructions
Place the inner pot in the outer pot and add a multi-purpose compost (do not use a soil based compost such as John Innes) to a depth of 2-4 inches / 5-10cm.
Place four seed potatoes about 2" (5cm) from the outside of the pot and in the middle of each window. The seed potatoes should be halfway up the height of the pot.
Cover the potatoes with more compost, either in stages as the plants grow directly or until the pot is full. Water thoroughly and place the Potato Pot in a warm and bright location. You should note that potatoes are very sensitive to frost so keep protected.
From four weeks water regularly and feed with a balanced, general purpose liquid fertiliser. Avoid getting water on the foliage as this could encourage blight.
After approx. 10 weeks after emergence, lift the inner pot up and pick any visible potatoes. Repeat every two weeks.
When the foliage dies, empty the pot out to harvest the remainder of the crop.

Top Tips For Growing Potatoes

You can start harvesting up to two weeks earlier by pre-sprouting or ‘chitting’ the seed potatoes. Place them in a light, frost free location with the bud end upwards. Egg boxes are ideal for this as it stops the potatoes falling over. This can be done in February.
The process can be started in a greenhouse but once the potatoes have sprouted they should be moved outdoors.
Potatoes cannot withstand frost. If there is a chance of frost, move the pot indoors overnight, or cover with garden fleece.
Use ‘early’ or salad potato varieties.
Re-plant in August for a Christmas crop!
