You can use it to see the current temperature in the greenhouse, together with the maximum and minimum temperatures achieved. Whilst the external sensor lets you measure soil or air temperature in the most temperature sensitive area. 
With an easy to read LCD display, you can choose to view the temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit at the press of a button. It also allows you to set an alarm based on the temperature sensed by the probe - so you will be alerted if the temperature falls below a set temperature or raises above a set temperature.
