With many new allotment owners this 8ft Wide Allotment Polytunnel is perfect! It will allow you to raise crops under cover without costing a fortune. 

This high-quality kit includes a heavy-duty, steel framework which can be covered with either a clear or diffused 720 gauge cover – simply make your choice when ordering. To keep costs to a minimum this cover is tensioned using the traditional ‘trenching’ method, which means digging a ditch around the structure and burying the polythene ends. 

Choose a tunnel with either a door at one or both ends when ordering – for the longer tunnels we would always recommend doors both ends as it allows more ventilation and air circulation during the summer months. 

Designed for the DIY enthusiast this tunnel will need some manual skills during assembly – ideally two people are needed during construction for joining and anchoring the hoops, fitting the cover, door frames and door.

Standard Features:

Traditional Foundation Tubes - this tunnel is supplied with foundation tubes designed to be simply knocked into the ground. These form the anchoring points for the tunnel frame.

Long Lasting Framework - the frame is made from supremely strong steel hoops, 32mm diameter and coated with Armourguard to create a high endurance tube which offers up to 20 times the corrosion resistance of pre-galvanised steel tube due to this combined zinc, aluminium, and magnesium coating. The hoops are supplied as a two-piece hoop, making the hoops stronger and making construction easier. Depending on the length of tunnel will affect the spacing of the hoops along the length, with them being either 5ft apart or 6ft. 
Lengths where hoops are 5ft apart: 10ft, 15ft, 20ft, 25ft, 30ft, 35ft, 40ft, 45ft, 50ft, 55ft, 60ft.
Lengths where hoops are 6ft apart: 12ft, 18ft, 24ft, 36ft, 42ft, 48ft.

Anti-Hot Spot Tape - supplied with the tunnel, this tape is placed on the hoop of the tunnel prior to the polythene sheet being fitted. It acts as insulation between the metal and the polythene to prevent the build-up of damaging hot spots and also reduces the likelihood of the hoops tubbing against the polythene. 

Polythene Cover Options – choose between either a clear or diffused 720 gauge polythene to form the cover of the polytunnel. Both are UV ‘open’ polythene films, allowing UV light to reach your plants which provides many benefits when growing edible or ornamental crops, including enhancing the fragrance, taste, colour, earlier harvesting, and longer post-harvest shelf life. In addition, these films promote plant antioxidants which are good for plant health and encourage stronger growth. The clear polythene has excellent clarity, with light transmission of up to 92% and is a good choice for northern and western regions where lower light levels naturally occur. The light-diffusing polythene scatters the light as it passes through the polythene enabling the light to penetrate deep into the plant canopy as it hits the plants from all directions not just from the direction of the sun. Thanks to its unique anti-condensation additive this diffused polythene can control condensation on the underside of the cover. Light transmission is approx. 2% less than clear, at approx. 90%.

Timber Door Frames – supplied as timber battens for you to nail together and fix to the end hoop of the polytunnel. 

PVC 3 in 1 Zip / Velcro Door – this door features two heavy duty zips allowing easy access. A velcroed panel can be removed partially or entirely to allow as much or as little ventilation as required. Two Velcro tabs allow you to secure your door in place out of the way on hot summer days. This PVC door panel is easy to baton to the wooden door frame. When ordering choose from a door at one end or both ends.

8ft Wide - this has 3ft 6in (107cm) high straight sides and is 7ft (2.14m) high in the centre.
